Festival of Russian Culture

Traditional Russian music, dance, performance, artisan food, cinema, exhibitions and lectures are just some of the wealth of vibrant activities on offer across Dublin during the third annual Festival of Russian Culture. This year the festival will run from Monday 20th February - Sunday 26th February 2012.
There are many highlights taking place during the week-long Festival including Chess Challenge with Grand Master Alexander Baburin, Themed Lunchtime lecture series in Trinity College, Screening of Russian Films in association with Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, School quiz on Russia and Russian Cooking Class at Cooks Academy.
The central focus is the family day on Sunday February 26th in Temple Bar Cow's Lane and Essex Street will host a variety of performances and Russian food and souvenir stalls on this date. Family Day activities include Russian Fairytale Storytelling, Children's play and games, Traditional Russian music and dance performances and Russian acting masterclasses.
The Festival of Russian Culture is a celebration of Maslenitsa (Pancake Week) and marks the Russian pre-lent celebrations, the ending of winter and the beginning of spring, which is celebrated in cities throughout the world.
The Russian Cultural Festival, organised by Dublin City Council's Office of International Relations and Research, takes place with the kind assistance of Trinity College Dublin, The Russian Gazette, Temple Bar Cultural Trust, National Library of Ireland, National Gallery of Ireland, O'Callaghan Alexander Hotels and the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.
